Nigeria’s Women Under-20 team, the Falconets have arrived the ancient city of Benin on Sunday in preparation for the crucial 2nd leg U-20 world cup qualifier against their counterparts from Morocco.
The team led by the head coach, Christopher Danjuma arrived Benin from Abuja by road at about 5pm on Sunday with 25 players.
Speaking while receiving the team, the deputy governor of the state Hon Philip Shuaibu promised the team maximum support.
“I want to assure you of the support of Edo State Government and we would rally round the team to ensure victory against Morocco.”
Edo State will come out in large numbers,we also intend to mobilise people from Delta and Bayelsa to support the team to victory on Saturday,” he added.
The team secretary, Mary Obokudu who spoke on behalf of the Falconets contigent praised Edo State government for a warm reception which is far better than the previous time they came to Benin.
“I want to appreciate Edo state government for the warm reception, this is much better than what we experienced the last time and we promise to reciprocate this by winning on Saturday.”
It will be recalled that the Falconets held their Moroccan counterparts to 1 -1 draw in Sale last weekend and will be playing the return leg on Saturday by 4pm at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
