Jose Mourinho has slammed his Manchester United stars for playing ‘Playstation football’ in their 3-0 victory over Basel on Tuesday evening.
United got off to a flying start in their opening Champions League group game as goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford sealed a comfortable win at Old Trafford.
But Mourinho hit out at his side’s second-half display and warned his players that their complacency would have been punished by a stronger team.
‘Three points are important at home. Until 2-0 we were very stable, we played with confidence, with good choices,’ said the United manager.
‘After 2-0 everything changed, we stopped playing seriously and stopped making right decisions. We could have put ourselves in trouble.
‘We were playing fantasy football, Playstation football. I don’t like it, flicks and tricks.
‘We gambled and you have to respect your opponent.
